Donations made to Calvin Houston Scholarship for Leadership and Service The Calvin Houston Scholarship for Leadership and Service was established in 2020 by the Brookland Middle School SCA, to honor a man who dedicated much of his life to making Brookland Middle School a better place to learn. A retiree from Henrico County Schools, Calvin Houston worked for 39 years as a maintenance supervisor modeling the qualities of leadership, perseverance, and hard work. The purpose of the scholarship is to support students in their academic endeavors after middle school. It is open to eighth grade students who are attending Brookland Middle School in Henrico County, Virginia. The recipient of the scholarship will be the student who has demonstrated leadership and contributed the most to their school community during their middle school years.
